The aim of this study is to identify the main psychological, social, economic, and religious factors that contribute to marital adjustment and the continuity of the relationship between spouses, in light of the challenges facing the contemporary family. The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical approach and applied a questionnaire to a random sample of (350) married individuals (husbands and wives) from Lebanese society, with participants varying in terms of educational level, economic status, and duration of marriage.
The results revealed a strong positive relationship between the level of marital adjustment and the availability of communication skills, value congruence, and social and economic stability. The study also showed that family interference and financial pressures are among the most significant obstacles to marital harmony.
The study recommended the importance of strengthening family counseling programs and increasing awareness of the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding skills between spouses.
